What's New with Sook Enterprises

Supper Soireé

Sook Enterprises is a company that focuses on unique and extraordinary ways to experience the passion and artisanship that founder Kris Dews has for great cuisine. Originally called Sook Food Entertainment, Kris' goal was to provide top quality food along with an interactive and entertaining environment.

Kris started with two services, culinary instruction for public schools and catering both public and private events, creating a new concept where her staff serviced as helpful guests rather than hired help creating a more comfortable and enjoyable experience for all.

Intimate dinner partiesFive years later, the goals of Sook Enterprises remain the same, however Kris has now expanded into THREE very distinct services. Still teaching culinary classes for public schools, and catering events both private and public, Kris is now collaborating with other creative professionals in order to bring you new and exciting experiences.

Kris Dews _ Chef and Instructor

Born in Seoul Korea, Kris Dews came to Seattle in 1964 to live with her adopted family, residing here ever since. She has dabbled in many different careers, but the one career that has given her the greatest pleasure and satisfaction has been her career as both a chef and instructor.

Kris recieved her training as a sushi chef in Seattle where she apprenticed under Hajime Sato, Sushi Chef & proprietor of Mashiko's in West Seattle. Unlike most students, she was given the opportunity to learn "hands on" from a skilled and generous teacher.

In October 2000, Kris decided to start her own business Sook Food Entertainment, which utilized her Sushi skills while marketing them to the private sector. The word Sook comes from her born Korean name Hong Ji Sook.

Since its conception, Kris has taught over 200 classes, both privately and commercially, teaching students how to make dishes from all over the world.

Kris can be reached by phone at (206) 241-2158 or by e-mail at kris@sookfood.com.
